Performance Notes

× The Corazón Vocal Ensemble and director, Allison Girvan invite you to attend “Ripple Effect”, a series of progressive concerts on Saturday, June 16th at the Yasodhara Ashram where they will perform along with visiting Western University “Community Through Choral Art” students, Prof. Jennifer Moir and guest artist, Essi Wuorela.

All tickets are $20.

The performance will be repeated four times during the afternoon and will consist of the audience arriving by ferry in time for the performance to which they have pre-purchased tickets through the Capitol Theatre either in person at the box office, by phone (250-352-6363) or online (capitoltheatre.bc.ca).

Once you arrive at the Ashram, you will embark on a path which will lead you through a series of sonic presentations which explore the idea of ripple effect - how we affect each other, how we affect environment and how environment shapes us, how prior generations leave their mark on the current one and how this one will, in turn, influence the next.

The path will lead to a concluding performance in the gorgeous Temple of Light during which the audience will hear music from Sweden, Ireland, Africa, Iceland, and as a bonus feature and by special permission from arranger, Matti Kallio, we will be performing “Dobbin’s Flowery Vale” with the very artist who, along with the rest of “Rajaton”, propelled this piece to international recognition and adoration: Essi Wuorela!

This event will happen rain or shine so please remember that a portion of the performance takes place outside and bring weather-appropriate clothing (including an umbrella in case of rain), sunscreen and comfortable walking shoes.

Audience with mobility limitations, please contact Allison at alligirvan@gmail.com to arrange for assistance utilizing an onsite golf cart.

Please note that, if at all possible, we would like to encourage car-pooling to reduce the potential for overburdening the ferry’s vehicle capacity. If, on the day, you arrive to find that the ferry cannot hold as many cars as are there, please simply park your car and embark as a foot passenger. We will have shuttle drivers on the other side to transport you to the Ashram and back to the ferry at the end of the performance. OR feel free to catch an earlier ferry to the East Shore and make your way leisurely to the Ashram in time for your performance!

The performance is approximately an hour in length and the concert/ferry schedule is as follows: 2:10 pm (audience catches the 1:10 pm ferry and 3:40 pm ferry back) 3:50 pm (audience catches the 2:50 pm ferry and 5:20 pm ferry back) 5:30 pm (audience catches the 4:30 pm ferry and 7:00 pm ferry back) 7:10 pm (audience catches the 6:10 pm ferry and 8:40 pm ferry back)
